Why This Image
This is the same Bruner rendering of the Holy Face that Blessed Maria Pierina De Micheli received permission to use for the Holy Face Devotion and Medal, after Our Lord and Our Lady appeared to her between 1936 and 1938. Our Lady promised: “I will offer graces without measure to all who wear this scapular and, on Tuesdays, gaze with love upon My Holy Face.” The devotion traces back to the 1840s, when Our Lord told Venerable Sister Marie of St. Peter: “By My Holy Face you will work wonders.”
